mahsa mccauley (Mohaghegh)

Dr. Mahsa McCauley (Mohaghegh) is a computer engineer, senior lecturer and Unitec outreach manager. She is trying to get more girls involved in computer science with her tech networking platform, She Sharp. Mahsa gained a bachelor’s degree in computer software engineering in Tehran, followed by a Master’s in computer architecture from Iran University of Science and Technology. Then she won two scholarships to study at Massey University in Albany to do her PhD. Mahsa has been recognised for her work with many accolades. She won Google’s prestigious Anita Borg Memorial Scholarship, which recognises women making a difference in science and technology. In 2013, she won the Emerging Leader category in the inaugural Women of Influence awards.

We’ll be talking with Mahsa about her career in a male dominated industry and how she’s trying to transform the perception of computer and technology to encourage more girls and women to choose this as a career.
